The next early morning, I reached at 8.30am. There were some people hanging around and checking on the workshop and DMP. I took a short Q and press a number for submission.

My number was called by a staff sitting beside the main reception. The staff was checking through the documents and verifying the completeness of my application form. If everything goes well, they will write a short note (under AKPK heading) and indicate a phone number and your temporary reference number for your future checking on the application status via phone call. They asked to call and check the status exactly one month later after my submission.

I did not wait till ONE month. I called two days in advance before a full one month. The system showed the status still in progress. The receptionist asked me to call again in one week time. When I made my second call in the following week, the other receptionist told me that the applications on DMP are overwhelming. They do not have enough staff in KL to handle all the files/cases. My file has been sent to Sabah (which has less applications) for further processing. I guess because of Sabahan are richer or Sabah has nothing to spend? I was given a contact number and the name of the person in charge of my file. It was 5 weeks after my submission date. I immediately made a call to check on the status but I was informed that my application was still under processing.

I tried to call AKPK – Sabah Division to follow up the status on the week no. 6….7…, the in charge person still giving me standard answer – “Your application is still under processing”. Almost two months now and I was so worried yet I can’t do anything. I planned to call another week later.

AKPK form emphasized that ONLY completed form attached with relevant documents will be processed. Most probably they do not want to waste their time to check on those incomplete forms like check on exam paper of primary school. Before submitting the form, you must ensure that you have following documents to be attached together.

- I/C both side
- BE Form (Latest BE submission, personally I used BE2007)
- EA Statement (Your last EA statement under employment)
- EPF Statement (can be printed from www.kwsp.gov.my or visit KWSP branch)
- Saving or Current accounts statement for last 3 months.
- Salary slip for last 3 months
- Credit card statement for last 3 months. ( I submitted all my outstanding debts statement for the last 3 months)
- Legal proceeding documents, if any. (I do not have except banks warning letter which they are not required for submission)
- Completed the creditor’s Information included the monthly payment, status and total current amount owing. (All this can be found inside the application form)
- Signed the Declaration and consent for Disclosure of Information. (For the CCRIS* purposes)
- Signed the Statutory Declaration
- Receipt printed from www.Maybank2u.com for AKPK payment. (Payment has to be made together with the submission. The amount to be paid is based on the estimation installment by the counselor.)

I was intended to accelerate the process. Therefore, I went to CCRIS to request for my credit report to be printed out. Though, the counselor said that they will request the report themselves. However, I found that with the CCRIS reports I can have a better picture on my total outstanding amount with the bank. This will help me to fill up the application form faster and clearer.

Back to my journey to AKPK,  i have mentioned in part 1 that i need a job to qualify enrol in AKPK program.  Without much thought since i do not have much time to waste, i seeked my friend’s help who owned a restaurant to hire me as their temporary worker.  I did not work there neither he will pay my salary.  However, he issued me a payslip under his restaurant name for my submission to AKPK in order to prove my ability to pay back the loan.   I know that from the submission to the approval, it will take at least 2-3 months.  My plan was to secure a stable job during my application.  Thanks for his kindness and willingness to help a liar.  When you are down, you need lots of helps and favours from others.  Some people might not that lucky being able to find those help.  However, never afraid to ask around as long as you do not ask money from them like me.

I have attended their AKPK’s Debt Management Programme (DMP) held in Kuala Lumpur on Februry 2009.  Anyone who wish to register with them must attend this DMP before they allocating a counsellor to you.  The appointments were tight and i’ve been allocated to meet my counsellor about 3 weeks after my DMP.  Nowadays, many people facing the credit card/loan crisis like me.  Most of them are due to overspending which their income not on par with their expenses.  I have to wait patiently even i was very impatient at that time.  During my waiting period, i’ve done full research so that i can get the approval smoothly.   I cant afford to fail this DMP.

Unfortunately, that’s not enough to save my life.  I have to face all my outstanding bank loan, car loan, mortgage loan and personal loan which i do not have ability to pay off.  I do not have single cents since i lost all my money on gambling.  The worst part of me – i lost my job as well!!  At that point of time, the only way i had was to wait for all the banks to sue me and i will just wait for bankruptcy.  Until when my beloved girlfriend, who is still with me all along after she has been cheated by me, emotionally and monetary, tells me about the AKPK program.

As an pessimist, i did not anticipate much on this.  But this is the only way that i can try to prevent myself for going into bankruptcy.  AKPK requires a person with a job, regardless how much he/she earns.  The first thing that i need to do was to find myself a job.  It was 1/1/2009 when everyone was celebrating a brand new year of 2009.  I was struggling to find a job.  In this economic condition,  many people cant secure their job.  Needless to say how hard that i can get a job.   I cant wait to find a suitable job in order to qualify for AKPK program.
